Five Habits For High Performing Introverts

Mar 06, 2022

Have you ever been the person who has the most impact at work, but takes the least amount of credit? Are you the silent “make-it-happen-captain” that everyone relies on to get things done - if they know about you? Do people wonder why you spend so much time alone, focusing and working away?

If that sounds like you, you are probably what I call a High Performance Introvert!

Most High Performance Introverts I know feel confident in their abilities, in their skin, and out in the world. They feel energized by their work, mission or purpose, and they can sometimes be mistaken for extroverts.

But we’ve all struggled with people who get offended when we need to recharge, people who talk over or take credit for our ideas at work, or feeling like something is wrong with us.

It can be frustrating when we get forced to operate in ways counter to our nature. The endless and needless meetings. The expectation to be available for anyone’s questionable emergency or request.

Here’s the good news - with record numbers of folks working from home the past two years, organizations accidentally unlocked the power of introverted employees.

I believe we are in the middle of an introverted revolution, where people realize when they can cut out distraction at the office that roughly 50% of their workforce is more productive.  The common idea that people are only productive under the watchful eye of a manager is giving way to TRUSTING workers to do the right thing.

So in this new world, a world where High Performing Introverts thrive, we need to make sure we up our productivity and effectiveness so we can keep doing joyful and fulfilling work that works with our style.

So here are five habits all HPI need to continue to be effective (watch the video for more on each point).

  1.  Be Clear On Who You Are
  2.  Focus Energy On The Most Important things
  3.  Believe and Act On Your Bold Ideas
  4.  Create And Communicate Your Productivity Rhythm
  5.  Create 1:1 Power Relationships!

These are five habits anyone can use to increase their productivity, and highlight the five areas of high performance.
