Short Episode: Quality vs. Quantity in Creation
===
[00:00:00] Hey, everyone. Welcome to the Meaningful Revolution podcast. I am your host, Shawn Buttner, and this is the show where we help creators live, thrive, and die by their purpose. I'm still workshopping and working that out. Anyways, welcome to the show. today we have a really quick one for you. I'm going to tell you real quick why this episode is this way and not another
interview.
And very simply it's, I was trying something new with the next. And, wasn't quite done. So I'm not sure if you've ever, as a creator, been working on something and, I felt restless a little bit with how you're doing your process. You switch something and it took 10 times as long as you want it to, but that's exactly what happened with me with my episode next week with my friend Dan Gomer.
stay tuned for that. It's a great episode on how to really find clarity in your [00:01:00] life. and Dan's a middle school teacher turned real estate developer turned real estate coach. Super cool guy, really enjoyed that conversation. but yeah, just not quite up to stuff snuff for, the quality that I tried to do for the show.
It brings me to at least one idea to share with you this week, real quick in this mini episode, and that is quality versus quantity, especially as a content creator, right? As a podcaster, as someone that writes articles, if you do, books, if you do anything creative, right?
there's An idea of sometimes you get into the comfort zone or just chugging through stuff. It's not really challenging. It's not really fun anymore. You're not doing anything exciting. You're just going through the motions with it. And in those moments, I was listening to a podcast.
I think it was Jay Klaus's podcast earlier this [00:02:00] week, which was fantastic. If you're a creator, go check it out. But. In that podcast, he was talking about how sometimes you just get into a rut and you need to switch things up. And from the high performance perspective, there is something to finding the joy in the process.
And, and there is something to also be progressing, right? When you feel stuck or when you feel like you're going through the motions, in my experience, observed and personally lived. Those times are the ones where you're not pushing yourself or you're not trying to get to that next level or you've lost that performance edge, right?
And everyone listening to a podcast called The Meaningful Revolution needs to have that idea of what is my performance edge in whatever you do. As a parent, as a coder, as a skier, as a husband, as a wife, as a spouse. You name it, like, where is your performance [00:03:00] edge, where are you deepening your knowledge, where are you deepening your level of satisfaction, level of excitement of doing the things that you do, all the identities that you have in your life.
And I know when I talk with clients about this is usually a big unlock for them in either getting excited again for something that they loved or someone that they loved, Or for the realization that, you're in a different place, you have to approach it differently. You can't, be doing the same things that you're, you've been doing and expecting to get success afterwards.
just a quick question for you then. where in your life are you feeling checked out? Are you feeling on your way? Are you feeling that just the excitement's lost? And how are you engaging with that? Are you engaging with that? I think You know, for me, I've been going, just go on the podcast for a while, and, it was time to [00:04:00] just switch things up and try to do things with a little bit more excellence.
And that's all we can do. So thank you for being on this journey with me. check out our last episode, which is leading without formal authority, which is really a use case on how clarity in leadership can help you have an impact. So it's a personal story about me going to Japan. When I worked in corporate America for a large retailer that sounds like Walmart, because it is Walmart, so.
yeah, so that's a pretty cool story. and just shows you the power of taking the time to just realize how you need to show up. And so I really enjoyed sharing that with y'all last week. And okay, with that below the show notes you can find last week's episode or you'll see it on the screen here if you're watching on YouTube. Catch us next week with Dan Gomer, on the Meaningful Revolution podcast. See you then.
